Carreirón Natural Park: what to see and kayak route

Pine groves, quiet coves and a birdlife wetland at the southern tip of A Illa de Arousa. This is Carreirón, and the best way to discover it by kayak.

Kayaking in the Carreirón Natural Park, A Illa de Arousa

Carreirón Natural Park occupies the southern tip of A Illa de Arousa and is one of those spots that surprise you: pines right by the sea, quiet coves and a wetland where many birds rest and winter. A nature plan a short hop from the centre of the island.

What to see in Carreirón

  • Trail through pine groves with views over the Ría de Arousa.
  • Quiet coves and beaches for a swim without the crowds.
  • Wetland and birdwatching (especially outside summer).

Carreirón by kayak

The kayak route along the park's coastline is a beautiful (and calm) way to see it from the water, suitable for beginners and families. Unlike Areoso, you don't need a special authorization here, so it is a more flexible plan.

How to combine it

Carreirón pairs well with a visit to Areoso Island or paddle surf in calm waters. A full weekend in A Illa de Arousa has room for it all.
