Pedregoso or Areoso: which islet should you visit?

Two beautiful islets of the Ría de Arousa, but different. We help you choose between Pedregoso and Areoso based on permit, plan and who you travel with.

Islets of the Ría de Arousa seen from the water

Pedregoso and Areoso are two islets of the Ría de Arousa visited from A Illa de Arousa, by kayak or boat. They share the good stuff (sand, clear water, scenery) but one key difference often decides the plan: the permit.

Areoso: the protected one, with a permit

Areoso Island is the famous "Galician Caribbean": stunning, but a protected area. To land you need a Xunta authorization and spots are limited. If you book with us, we handle it for you.

Pedregoso: the flexible alternative

Pedregoso Islet is a lesser-known gem and, above all, needs no special authorization. It is the best option when Areoso is full, when you travel in a large group, or if you simply want a freer, more spontaneous plan.

Which one to choose?

  • You want the icon and plan ahead → Areoso.
  • No spots left, a big group or last-minute → Pedregoso.
  • Can't decide? Ask the operator: they know the day's conditions.
